“Great Persians”

In early 2010, DMA’s TV production arm, Vivid White, started work on a landmark series for BBC Persian TV.

‘Great Persians’ is a 6-part historical drama series. Each episode is fronted by a high-profile Iranian and proposes one historical figure for the title ‘Greatest Persian’.

Vivid White has filmed historically accurate reconstructions, sourced the finest manuscripts and interviewed leading experts in the USA, Russia, Switzerland, France, Holland and the UK. 

The series is shot on the new 35mm RED digital format (Super HD). In post production we are using the latest in VFX technology seamlessly blended with live action reconstructions to bring key moments from Persian history to life. Our approach to VFX is bringing a dramatic visual impact to the series alongside the more conventional historical story telling. In making this project we are proving that it is possible to get the epic, ‘Hollywood look’ without the big-budget.

 The series is now nearing completion. The six finalists are:

Zoroaster

The series is due to be broadcast in the autumn on BBC Persian TV. The final result will be decided in a viewer poll.
