Europe’s largest independent news services company, DMA Media, is making a strategic investment in Urbs Media, a new company with a revolutionary approach to data.
Urbs selects and organises the burgeoning open data from cities, industries and companies, creating highly targeted stories, using proprietary techniques and workflows.
The company was founded just over a year ago. DMA’s investment will allow it to grow its existing customer base and develop the creation of targeted news stories and content marketing. “Urbs is in many ways the future of news,” said Rob Beynon, DMA’s chief executive. “The founding team have many years of experience in the industry – both commercially and editorially. DMA’s news experience makes this a very good fit.”
Gary Rogers, Editor-in-Chief at Urbs said: “We’re delighted to have DMA’s expertise and global network on board as we look to the second phase of our growth strategy.
This investment gives us the support needed to strengthen our production process and our market position among our media owner, news agency and content marketing customer base.”
DMA’s chairman Richard Sambrook, the former Director of BBC News and Sport and Chief Content Office for Edelman PR, said: “Data will feed the hunger for content in the digital age, and Urbs – with DMA’s resources - will use it to tell stories to audiences who can be targeted and tracked.”
